Crinoids
Stemmed echinoderms, and related
to sea urchins, starfish and sand dollars, these marine invertabrates
commonly known as sea lillies lived on the sea bed or reefs.
A ring-like structure gave stability to a stem which anchored
and elevated the cup shaped body bearing food-gathering appendages
called arms. These arms swept food particles floating in the
water into a mouth that faced upwards at the apex of the body. |
